Overnight in LIMA (Altitude: Sea Level)

To get a real flavor for the country, you will be whisked around the wonderful city of Lima to discover the ancient and the modern seamlessly blended together. Your tour  begins in the lively seaside disctrict of Miraflores. There, you will visit the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site. Afterwards you will head to the historic center of town to see the Monastery of San Francisco where you can discover the twisting underground catacombs. You continue to the Plaza de Armas, a brilliant architectural open space. Finally we will take you through the bohemian disctrit of Barranco where you will enjoy a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. After all this great culture and history you will be returned to the hotel to relax before your amazon tour begins.

For those of you who have a passion for the rainforest, this Amazon Peru tour is a dream come true. This morning you will be assisted back to the airport for your departing flight to Puerto Maldonado. It is the gateway city to the Amazon Rainforest. We will take a boat up one of the tributaries of the Amazon River to your environmentally low-impact lodge to commence your tour.

You will be partaking in a guided tour into the deeper reaches of the rainforest where you’ll be:

• Walking rainforest paths to beautiful locations
• Watching colourful parrots play on a wall of soft edible clay
• Exploring the Corto Maltes Gardens where many exotic species grow
• Boating out to Monkey Island to see some of the native primates
• Visiting the Tambopata Candamo National Reserve to see huge trees and more wildlife
• Canoeing along Sandoval Lake to glimpse rare giant otters and piranhas
• Viewing a sunset before the evening meal

You will be feasting on Amazonian fruits and nuts for breakfast today before setting off back to the airport for a connecting flight to Cusco. After leaving the jungle behind you will head into the Andes mountain range where a Face Peru tour guide will greet you with a warm cup of Andean coca tea before taking you back to your hotel

Today you take in everything the magical city of Cusco has to offer. You’ll visit an Incan complex named Saqsayhuaman, an impressive testament to Inca architectural expertise. It has gigantic stone blocks that were laid centuries ago and fitted together with great precision and without a single drop of mortar. In addition to this, you’ll visit a lively artist colony and have the opportunity to mix with the locals in the San Pedro marketplace. There will also be a tour of Santo Domingo Church, known as Qorikancha, the Incas´main religious construction.

Overnight in OLLANTAYTAMBO (Altitude: 2950 m. – 9800 ft)

Today will be a real eye-opener to the majesty of the Incas. Our first stop will be Pisac ruins, an inca site full of impressive farming terraces and aqueducts. Then we visit the local artisan market that fills the main plaza with ongoing hustle and bustle. After perusing the marketplace, we will drive to the town of Urubamba for a buffet lunch. Our journey will recommence with a visit to the striking remnants of the Inca fortress at Ollantaytambo. Made of gray and rose-colored granite completed with temples and baths, it was once an important administrative hub for the Incas. Following a walkthrough of the fortress, the rest of the day will be yours to spend as you please.

Overnight in OLLANTAYTAMBO (Altitude: 2950 m. – 9800 ft)

Get ready for a Sacred Valley adventure on the drive to Moray where we will see the incredible experimental farming terraces, which are circular in shape and were used as laboratory to acclimatize crops. No experience is needed for the next part of the journey. Enjoy a calm and serene kayak tour of the beautiful lake perched in the Andes ´Huaypo´ with professionals. Admire the amazing landscape of agricultural fields, snowcapped mountains and glaciers as you paddle around the lake. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of Huaypo. Then we drive to the old town Maras, a remote Andean village where the culture has remained similar. You will explore the streets, church, plaza and see how people continue wearing their traditional clothing. Finally, you will have the chance to visit Maras salt pans, an incredible system of platforms used since pre-Incan times to get salt from a natural spring.

Overnight in AGUAS CALIENTES (Altitude: 2000 m. – 6500 ft)

Today you travel to one of the greatest of all archaeological sites, Machu Picchu, the ‘lost city’ of the Incas. As you travel to Aguas Calientes town by train, you will soak in the majestic scenery of the Urubamba Valley. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes, a bus will transport you to the entrance of Machu Picchu for a guided tour. Temples, stairways, palaces and gabled stone dwellings are scattered everywhere, testifying to the energy an ingenuity of the builders. After the tour you will have free time to explore and enjoy this incredible site. Spend the night in Aguas Calientes.

Overnight in CUSCO (Altitude: 3350 m. – 10991 ft)

Rise early for a hike through the foggy ruins at sunrise. If you have an adventurous spirit you are more than welcome to hike the other trails in this area. The Sun Gate, or Intipunku, point of arrival to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trail; or the Wayna Picchu, the hard-earned view from the top is truly breathtaking. Finally, journey back to Cusco on board the Vistadome train.

You will be taken back to the airport in Cusco for your flight to Lima, and from there continue your journey to the rest of South America or catch a connecting flight back home.
